To provide an update, my new control module did not fix the issue. I also checked the aux fan on the front of my truck. It IS NOT spinning while the AC is on. I turned the truck on for about 5 minutes with the AC turned on and the aux fan never came on. How can I test this aux fan? What should I check next?
If the fan is on because of the ac, it will only go to high if the temp gets to 99. You can test the aux fan by doing 2 things. First think is get a battery or battery charger, at least with something that gives 12v DC. Then unplug the aux fan connector and give it juice on the positive and negative.
There are two shields on both sides of the fan, that guide the air in. They are held on by two plastic rivets each. Step 5 ***8211;Remove Aux Fan. Unplug the Aux fan. Take out the two 10mm bolts (one on each side) on the sides near the bottom. Pull the bottom towards you and pull down.
Circuit is: 1) Battery. 2) Fuse 105, 100A bolted lug style - in the high amp fuse block over the battery nearer the wheelwell (not the relay & ATO fuse block directly above the battery). There is a flip up cover over the fuses. 3) Fuse 75, 50A Maxi fuse - behind the glovebox, "hidden" above the ZKE general module.
This symptom indicated a failed final stage resistor on the older models (E39, etc.), but likely indicates a failing regulator on this vehicle. It's located behind the blower fan. It's now on my growing (and sometimes shrinking) list of things to work through on my new to me vehicle. 2007 X3 6MT; 2022 M3 Base.
BMW 735i 1990 Heater/Ac Fan was working and now will not come on, happened once recently and have checked all fuses in compartment under hood. Switches light up but blower not coming on at any speed. … read more
1. No air flow in any setting. Digital works perfect and I hear the compressor kick in. Blower not coming on. 2. Checked the blower fuse and AC fuses they have continuity. 3. Changed the resistor; still nothing. 4. Read the new resistor in low speed 3-4 volts DC, then in high 11-12 volts DC.
During this time, the electric fan turn on in maximum power. And don't stop, when i continued my way. On the highway, when i accelerated, the temperature decreased to 80-82 degrees. When i cruised constant speed, it was normal, 96-97 degrees. A next parkplace i stop the engine, and started again.
